Why
How did Gumboot Rally form?
Andy, Mikey and Gator are petrol heads through and through and love nothing more than an excuse for a road trip.
It all started when we were discussing how we would love to go for a drive through the forgotten highway.
We thought it would be fun to invite others to join in. Having been involved in organizing and competing in other automotive scavenger hunts the next step was quite logical.
Within the next month, Gumboot Rally was formed.
Why do we do it?
On our first event, we had 23 cars driving from Hamilton – New Plymouth – Taupo. The smiles on the faces, the friendships made and the general mood of the prize giving gave the 3 of us the boost required to keep the ball rolling. Since then we have run 2 events per year and just finished our 14th event with 83 cars joining in on the adventure. We all chip in on the organizing of the event and the mission and route planning. All around our day jobs and busy family lives.
This is the three of us, our cars and our main tasks.
